Teraoka Research Center, the predecessor of Teraoka Seiko was
established in November of 1934.The company office was all of 17
square meters in size and there were only five employees.
Eighty years have passed since then.
Now, Teraoka Seiko’s business does not stop at the domestic
market; we have overseas subsidiaries in twelve countries and a
global sales network that spans about 150 countries across the
world. And the total number of employees for the group tops 3,500.
Even though the scale of our business has grown remarkable since
the company was established, the one thing that has not changed
since the beginning is our motto:
"Show gratitude! We can do it! Let’s create what others can’t!"
These words are born from the personal experience of our first
president, Toyoharu Teraoka when he established the company.
"Show gratitude" is our wellspring.
It is the singular driving force behind our daily endeavors in business.
And, "We can do it! Let’s create what others can’t!" is our mission.
Continually creating new standards is our raison d'être.
For example, in 1935, only two years after the company was
founded, we created a new standard for the industry – a spring scale
for household use. And, thirty years later in 1965, we created still
another new standard – the digital price-computing scale.
For Teraoka Seiko/DIGI, creation of new standards is not limited to
scales. We are proud to say that we have created many new
standards for the retail, food, logistics, and hospitality industries.
With gratitude as our wellspring and driving force, we continue to
meet our ongoing challenge of creating new standards.
