DIGI to Showcase the Future of Retail at APRCE 2026
Featuring New Bulk Sales Solution EcoPlus, Mobile Self-Checkout Loss Prevention Solution DIGI Shop&Go, and Circular Economy Innovations
TOKYO, Japan, October 5, 2026 – DIGI, the global brand of Teraoka Seiko Co., Ltd., a solution provider of retail and weighing solutions, will participate as a sponsor of the Asia-Pacific Retailers Convention & Exhibition (APRCE) 2026 and exhibit its latest innovations at RETAIL EXPO Tokyo 2026, taking place on October 8–9 at Tokyo International Forum Hall E.
At Booth 2-6, DIGI will present technologies designed to help retailers advance both Retail DX and Sustainability Transformation (SX), with a focus on bulk sales, mobile self-checkout, loss prevention, and resource circulation.
The company will also deliver a featured exhibitor presentation on October 9 titled:
“Creating the future of retail: Innovations in bulk sales and mobile checkout”
APRCE is one of the Asia-Pacific region’s leading retail industry events, bringing together executives, retailers, and solution providers from 18 countries and regions.
Under the event theme, “The Future of Retail: Innovation and Timeless Values,” industry leaders will explore how retailers can balance operational efficiency, customer experience, and sustainability while navigating rapid market change.
As a company serving retail businesses in approximately 150 countries worldwide, DIGI will use this opportunity to demonstrate how connected retail technologies can help retailers address labor shortages, improve operational efficiency, strengthen loss prevention, and support sustainable business practices.
EcoPlus: A New Approach to Bulk Sales
One of the featured exhibits will be EcoPlus, DIGI’s latest Bulk Sales solution.
EcoPlus enables retailers to reduce packaging waste while simplifying store operations. Products can be supplied directly in dedicated supplier bags that are fitted into a dispenser equipped with an integrated scale, allowing consumers to purchase only the quantity they need.
By making Bulk Sales easier to operate and more convenient for shoppers, EcoPlus creates value for consumers, retailers, and manufacturers while supporting environmentally responsible consumption.
Secure Mobile Self-Checkout and Self-Checkout Operations
DIGI will also showcase loss prevention solutions for both mobile self-checkout and self-checkout environments.
Leveraging the company’s weighing expertise, these solutions verify product weights throughout the shopping journey to help reduce checkout errors and fraud.
Visitors will be introduced to the world's first system* capable of individually managing weight data from packaged fresh products and comparing it with self-checkout weight data to detect discrepancies and potential fraud.
Advancing Circular Economy Initiatives
Another highlight will be an aluminum can reverse vending machine designed to support resource circulation.
The solution automatically identifies acceptable aluminum beverage cans, detects residual contents and foreign materials, and compresses collected cans to improve recycling efficiency and logistics.
By helping retailers participate in recycling programs while generating additional value from collected materials, DIGI’s aluminum can reverse vending machine contributes to both environmental and business objectives.
The booth will also feature:
・SM-6000AI, an AI-powered produce scale designed to support bulk sales of fresh produce
・Itemiq, an AI image recognition solution that helps prevent food labeling errors
Together, these technologies demonstrate how retailers can simultaneously enhance operational efficiency, sustainability, and customer experience.
* Based on DIGI research. The first system in the world to individually manage weight data from packaged fresh products and compare it with self-checkout weight data to detect discrepancies and potential fraud.
On October 9, Teraoka Seiko will participate in the exhibitor presentation program held in the exhibition seminar area.
The presentation will focus on bulk retailing, where consumers weigh products themselves, and checkout DX enabled by secure self-checkout and mobile self-checkout operations, offering a vision for the future of retail.
