During the 2024 edition of NRF Retail's Big Show in New York, the Italian retailer visited DIGI’s booth to discover the innovations presented and evaluate new technologies for its stores. Among all the innovative solutions presented, Extra was impressed by the potential of the DIGI ESL. The third generation InfoTags’ three-colour e.Paper display, flexible label format, light infrastructure and the ability to integrate with the DIGI software that they are currently using are the winning features that convinced Extra Supermarkets to install the InfoTags.
With a total of 3,030 tags deployed at its Caserta store, instant, real-time updates to product pricing and promotional information can be easily achieved. The automation eliminates the need for staff to manually update paper price tags, especially during promotional campaigns, reducing labour costs and errors.
The flexible design of the InfoTags allows Extra Supermercati to differentiate prices for loyalty program members in a clear, efficient, and intuitive way. Thanks to the 3-colour display, every promotional detail can be clearly highlighted to maximise customer interest.
InfoTags enable the display of both the full price and the loyalty price on the same label, allowing customers to easily recognise exclusive offers and enhancing the visibility of the loyalty program benefits. This transparency not only facilitates the enrollment of new customers in the program but also encourages them to participate.
Additionally, integration with the store's POS system allows larger InfoTags to display the maximum number of items eligible for the promotion, providing customers with accurate information on the final price they will pay at checkout.
This implementation of the InfoTags has offered significant business advantages, which not only strengthen shopper retention, but also boost sales, while the modernised, eco-friendly approach supports sustainability goals, positioning Extra Supermercati for long-term growth and competitiveness in a dynamic retail landscape.
