ESL InfoTag, IB-3700

Established in 1990, PT Sat Nusapersada Tbk (PTSN) is an Indonesia-based manufacturing company well-known for its fully integrated electronic manufacturing services and high quality final assembly lines. As such, inventory control is critical to ensure production processes are kept at the highest level.

Despite having an external inventory management solution to track material transactions digitally in 2021, PTSN still lacked a device that can function as a medium between the management system and their physical inventory stock.

Impressed by DIGI’s InfoTag electronic shelf labels for its high quality display and wireless communication capabilities, PTSN decided to deploy over 400 InfoTags at its warehouse to automate its inventory tracking process.

Each material’s InfoTag is registered in the inventory system, allowing operators to keep the system updated in real-time by scanning the respective InfoTag’s barcode when any movement such as receipt or issuing of materials is executed.

Seeing how the InfoTag has transformed their warehouse operation, PTSN has decided to deploy an additional 300 tags in other departments to further boost its productivity.

At the Stencil Control area, tags are used to track the cleaning status of Surface Mount Technology (SMT) stencils. Having hundreds of stencils with identical appearance, the blinking of the InfoTag’s built-in LED flash indicator provides visual guidance for operators to locate the correct stencil rack in the shortest time.

PTSN has also began to use the InfoTag for its material bins located at the production lines, which enables accurate parts tracking for the numerous components that are used for assembly purposes.

The implementation of DIGI’s InfoTags across these departments has helped PTSN achieved a significant increase in productivity, with the biggest improvement being at the warehouse where productivity rose by 80%.
