DIGI Group Opens Second Factory in Shanghai, China
The DIGI Group, led by Teraoka Seiko Co., Ltd., (Head Office: Ota-ku, Tokyo; President: Kosuke Yamamoto), has opened its second factory of its Chinese subsidiary, Shanghai Teraoka Electronic Co., Ltd., in Shanghai to strengthen the Group's production capabilities in China and support the further expansion of its global business operations. The new facility is scheduled to manufacture large-scale equipment for food manufacturing plants, including the flagship PW Series packaging machines and HC-800 Series label printers, and will commence full-scale operations in September 2026.
Operating globally under the DIGI brand, the Group maintains manufacturing bases in four countries—Japan, Singapore, China, and the United Kingdom—and provides sales and service networks across approximately 150 countries worldwide. As part of its growth strategy toward 2030, the Group is accelerating the expansion of its international business and enhancing its packaging solutions for the food industry market.
Following the establishing of its first factory in Shanghai, China, in 1993, Shanghai Teraoka Electronic Co., Ltd., has now opened its second factory to strengthen its mass-production capabilities for equipment used in food manufacturing facilities and expand overall production capacity. In addition, the new factory will serve as a key manufacturing hub supplying products not only to customers throughout China but also to Japan and other countries around the world, helping establish a stable global supply system for international markets.
The second factory is located on the first floor of Building 3 within a smart industrial park developed and operated by Viseen in Shanghai, China. As the new facility is situated approximately three kilometers from the existing first factory, the Group will leverage close coordination in manufacturing and logistics to establish an efficient production system.
Immediately after operations begin, the factory will start production of the HC-800 Series label printers for the Chinese market. Production will subsequently be expanded to include the PW Series packaging machines and other products in stages.
The PW Series is a family of packaging machines that includes pillow packaging machines, tray sealers, and MAP (Modified Atmosphere Packaging) systems. Its extensive lineup supports a wide range of packaging formats and production-line configurations.
The HC-800 is an automatic thermal label printer and applicator designed for food processing lines. In Japan, it commands an approximately 80% market share among food factories supplying convenience stores. By automating the printing and application of food labeling information, the HC-800 helps improve productivity and operational efficiency at food manufacturing sites.
